DIY Sun Hat

Happy Tuesday, everyone! If you're like me you're loving all of the gorgeous sequin message sun hats that have been seen all over Instagram! I just knew I had to have one for my next beach vacay, so when we booked our trip to Mexico, I set off on a mission to find the perfect hat. I could not justify the price tag of the uber popular and chic Eugenia Kim sun hats, which will set you back $475+. So, I searched and searched, but could not find what I was looking for, so I decided to take things into my own hands and DIY it.

I was very pleased with the results and it could not have been easier, so I decided to share the details here for anyone that wants to give it a try! To start I bought a natural straw color sun hat with a wide brim ($40), along with sequin trim in black ($9 from Amazon). However, you can use any color you desire! I also bought some fabric glue ($6 from Amazon) and used toothpicks to spread the glue and shape the letters. Be sure to use a placemat or newspaper under your work area.

The hardest part will be deciding what you want your hat to say!! I laid out a few letters at a time and added glue to an inch or two at a time. The entire project took me about an hour and I ended up with a custom, one-of-a-kind sun hat! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
